Designed by Frank Gehry and opened in 2014, the Fondation Louis Vuitton is a contemporary art museum and cultural space nestled at the edge of Paris’s Bois de Boulogne.
Its iconic architecture—twelve billowing glass ‘sails’ wrapped around luminous white ‘icebergs’—creates a constantly shifting play of light and reflections.
Inside, you’ll find ambitious temporary exhibitions, site‑specific works, concerts, talks, and terraces with sweeping views over Paris and the park below..
Opening hours vary by exhibition season; the Fondation is usually closed on Tuesdays. Last admission is typically one hour before closing.
Closed on Tuesdays and select public holidays; occasional maintenance or exhibition changeovers may affect opening—check the official calendar.
Fondation Louis Vuitton, 8 Avenue du Mahatma Gandhi, 75116 Paris, France
The Fondation sits beside the Jardin d’Acclimatation in the Bois de Boulogne, in western Paris. It’s easy to reach by métro (Line 1 to Les Sablons), shuttle, bus, taxi, or bike.
From major rail hubs (Gare du Nord, Gare de Lyon, Montparnasse), take the métro or RER into Line 1 and continue to Les Sablons (exit ‘Fondation Louis Vuitton’). From there, it’s a pleasant 10–15 minute walk through the park. A dedicated shuttle also runs from Place Charles‑de‑Gaulle–Étoile on exhibition days.
Driving is possible but not ideal—parking is limited around the Bois de Boulogne. Consider public car parks near Porte Maillot or use a drop‑off/taxi at the entrance. Cycling is popular; bike racks are nearby.
Several buses serve the area (including options via Porte Maillot and Les Sablons). On select days, a Fondation shuttle links Place Charles‑de‑Gaulle–Étoile to the museum. Timetables may change with exhibitions—check before you go.
From Les Sablons station, follow signs for ‘Fondation Louis Vuitton’. Paths lead through the Jardin d’Acclimatation or along the park’s edge—give yourself time to enjoy the stroll.
Frank Gehry’s visionary architecture, major contemporary art exhibitions, and terraces with luminous views over Paris’s western skyline and the Bois de Boulogne.
Twelve sweeping glass sails enfold luminous white ‘icebergs’ in a choreography of curves and reflections. Gehry’s parametric design and advanced engineering let light, sky, and trees ripple across the façade throughout the day—an architectural experience as dynamic as the art inside.
From landmark collaborations with major museums to focused, thematic shows, the Fondation presents ambitious exhibitions that span modern masters and emerging voices. Expect thoughtful scenography that converses with the building itself.
Step onto the terraces to see Paris from a fresh angle—the Eiffel Tower to one side, La Défense to the other, and the leafy canopy of the Bois de Boulogne below.
